Police Investigate Fatal Fire in Surrey

Surrey Police Service (SPS) and Surrey Fire Service (SFS) are investigating and early morning house fire in which the body of a deceased man was found.
Shortly after 7:00 am on January 12, 2026, SPS officers responded to calls of a house fire in the 12700 block 56 Avenue to assist SFS with road closures. During their efforts to extinguish the fully engulfed residence and search it for any victims, SFS members discovered the body of an adult man, who was deceased.
SPS’s Serious Crime Unit has been called in to investigate and will be working with the Coroner and fire investigators to determine if the death is suspicious, which has not been determined at this early stage. Investigators will also be working to determine the cause of the fire, which has also not been determined.
