File: 2026-110091 (SP)
Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating an arson this morning at Surrey’s Linda Vista Motel that has left part of the motel damaged by fire and smoke.
Shortly after 4:45 am on October 13, 2026, SPS Frontline officers responded to calls of a fire at the Linda Vista Motel in the 6400-block King George Boulevard. Surrey Fire Services was already on scene battling the blaze in the lobby which was started after a man entered the motel’s lobby and allegedly threatened staff before lighting the area on fire. No injuries have been confirmed, and it is not believed that any motel guests have been displaced due to the fire.
The suspect left the scene prior to SFS’s and SPS’s arrival. They are described as a South Asian, White, or Hispanic male in their 20’s, approximately 6’ tall and having a large build. He was wearing dark-coloured clothing. It is possible he left the area in a vehicle; however, a vehicle description is currently unavailable.
SPS’s Major Crime Unit and Arson Investigator are working with Surrey Fire Services fire investigators to examine the scene and gather evidence. The investigation is in its early stages, and the motive has not been determined.
SPS is asking anyone who might have information, or who may have witnessed the incident, including if you were driving in the area at the time and have dashcam footage, to please contact Surrey Police Service’s non-emergency number at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-110091 (SP).
