Additional Criminal Code charges have been approved for two men that had been arrested and charged following a Surrey Police Service (SPS) investigation into an alleged shots fired incident at a residence where the resident had allegedly been the victim of extortion threats.

On April 22, 2026, at approximately 12:40 am, SPS Frontline officers responded to calls of shots fired at a home in the 13400 block of 87A Avenue. Police confirmed damage to the residence and a vehicle. Although the residence was occupied at the time of the shooting, thankfully no one was injured. Surrey Police Service’s Extortion Response Team (ExRT) took over the lead on the investigation, a suspect vehicle was identified, and a search warrant was obtained. SPS ExRT members executed the warrant on a residence in Surrey with the assistance of the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team, Canada Border Services Agency, and other SPS teams. Two men were arrested during the execution of the warrant and were charged with multiple firearms related Criminal Code offences. Both Damanjeet Singh and Pardaman Singh were originally charged with one count each of:

  • Reckless discharge of a firearm, contrary to section 244.2(1)(a), and
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence, contrary to section 91(1). 

On May 29, 2026, the following additional Criminal Code charges were approved by the BC Prosecution Service against both accused:

  • Two counts of extortion, contrary to section 346(1.1)(b),
  • One count of possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm without the required authorization, contrary to section 95(1),
  • One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 92(1), and
  • One count of occupying a vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted firearm present, contrary to section 94(1).

Both Damanjeet Singh and Pardaman Singh have been remanded in custody. Damanjeet Singh’s next scheduled court date is June 16, 2026, and Pardaman Singh’s is June 2, 2026.
