One man has been arrested by Surrey Police Service (SPS) and is now charged with several Criminal Code offences following a vehicle stop on the evening of May 11, 2026, in Surrey’s City Centre neighbourhood.

On May 11, 2026, at approximately 7:45 pm, SPS’s Crime Reduction Unit officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic-related infraction near 146 Street and 108 Avenue, Surrey. As a result of the officer’s investigation, officers arrested one of the occupants after it was found he had a firearm in his possession. 

Gurwinder Singh, a 24-year-old male, has now been charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 

  • one count of possession of a loaded restricted or prohibited firearm, 
  • one count of occupying a vehicle knowing there was a prohibited firearm in the vehicle, 
  • one count of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, knowing they did not have a license,
  • one count of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm without a license,
  • one count of carrying a concealed weapon,
  • one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and
  • one count of careless storage of a firearm. 

Gurwinder Singh is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing and his next court appearance is scheduled for the afternoon of May 12, 2026.
