SPS Investigates Overnight Shots Fired in Apartment

Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating an early morning shots fired incident at a high-rise apartment in Surrey’s City Centre neighbourhood.
At approximately 12:30 am on January 19, 2026, SPS officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired inside a high-rise apartment in the 9600 block 136A Street, Surrey. Officers quickly located the suite where the shots originated and detained a number of people who were inside the apartment as part of the investigation. It is believed that shots were fired both inside the suite and outside on a balcony. No injuries have been reported related to the incident.
SPS’s Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIS) have attended and SPS’s Major Crime Section has taken conduct of the investigation. The investigation is in its early stages and the motive remains under investigation.
All those initially detained have been released from custody as the investigation continues.
