Surrey Police Service (SPS) is pleased to announce Sergeant Ali Gailus has joined SPS’s Communications Section as the agency’s second Media Relations Officer (MRO). 

Sergeant Gailus and SPS’s Senior Media Relations Officer, Staff Sergeant Lindsey Houghton, are responsible for providing media and the public with information related to public safety and police incidents taking place in Surrey. 

Sergeant Ali Gailus has 24 years of policing experience, the first 22 years with the Vancouver Police Department and the last 18 months with SPS. Sergeant Gailus has worked in frontline policing, criminal investigations, personnel services and she has also worked as a Staff Sergeant in the Operational Command Center with the Vancouver Police Department. Since joining SPS in October 2024, Ali has worked on the Frontline in SPS’s Community Policing Bureau.
