Surrey Police Service (SPS) has arrested and charged several individuals with violent offences related to extortion. SPS has released the photos of some of these individuals after determining that the disclosure is necessary to assist with the ongoing police investigations of one or more extortion and related firearms incidents. SPS is seeking additional witnesses, victims, or associates to come forward with relevant information regarding the activities of these individuals.

If you have information, please call police. SPS has officers specially trained in dealing with sensitive information and Canada has laws that protect the confidentiality of people who provide information to police.

Your information can help stop extortions and violence in your community. 

The disclosure of these photos is considered a consistent use disclosure under sections 33(2)(d) and 34 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act whereby police can disclose photos of arrested persons if the disclosure is necessary to further a police investigation into a current crime, or series of crimes, and to seek the public’s assistance for witnesses and victims who may have information.

Extortion Tip Line and Reward Fund

The Surrey Extortion Reward Fund is a $250,000 fund created by the City of Surrey to aid in the gathering of information of Surrey-related extortions. Those who provide specific information that leads to a conviction can receive up to $100,000.
