When To Call Police?
If you need an immediate response from police due to a crime in progress or an immediate threat to life or property, please call 9-1-1. If you are unsure if your call is an emergency, please call 9-1-1.
Examples of incidents that require a 9-1-1 emergency response:
- There is a crime in progress or has just been committed.
- You see a suspicious person, vehicle or circumstance and believe they may be involved in crime.
- There has been a serious serious accident.
- Someone is in crisis.
Examples of incidents that do not require an immediate response and should be reported by calling 604-599-0502 (non-emergency):
- Someone broke into your vehicle while you were shopping.
- Someone parked their vehicle in a no-parking zone.
- Someone is playing their music too loud.
- You have information about a historical crime.
There are also several situations when police may not be the right agency to contact. There are a number of other agencies and resources available to assist Surrey residents in addressing concerns or responding to certain incidents. Earthquake or Weather Emergency
For updates, shelter in place, or evacuation notices please visit Emergency Info BC. You can also follow Emergency Info on X for current information during an emergency (@EmergencyInfoBC)
Fuel Spill or Debris on the Road
If there is an immediate injury or danger, please call 9-1-1.
If there is no immediate threat, please contact the City of Surrey Service Request Hotline at 604-591-4152 to report this issue.
If there is a fuel spill in a body of water or there is the threat of pollution in a marine environment, please contact the Canadian Coast Guard.
Graffiti or Vandalism
If you see someone actively creating graffiti or committing an act of vandalism, please call 9-1-1..
If you see graffiti on your property, please call non-emergency at 604-599-0502.
If you see graffiti or acts of vandalism within Surrey, please report it to the City of Surrey.
Litter or Garbage Dumping
If you come across illegal garbage dumping or litter in Surrey, please report it through the City of Surrey's “Report a Problem” portal.
Motor Vehicle Incident
If you are in a motor vehicle incident where there are no injuries or risks to public safety, and all vehicles are drivable, please call ICBC at 1-800-910-4222 to report a claim.
If there are significant injuries, please call 9-1-1.
If the vehicles are not drivable, but there are no significant injuries, please call non-emergency at 604-599-0502.
Traffic or Violation Ticket

Surrey Bylaws (Animal Services, Parking Enforcement, Noise)
If you have bylaw questions or to report a bylaw infraction, you can contact City of Surrey Bylaw Enforcement at 604-591-4370
They can help with the following concerns:
Animal Control:
For animal control concerns, injured or stray animals, or removal of dead wildlife or domestic animals
Parking Tickets: If you'd like to pay your parking ticket or dispute your parking ticket, you can phone the Bylaw office or pay online.
Noise Complaints: To report common bylaw infractions like noise complaints, you can use the bylaw reporting tool online or call the bylaw office.
