Report Property Crime
Property crime is the most commonly recorded offence in most cities. It can be a targeted attack or a random act of crime involving damaged or stolen property.
Types of property crimes include:
- Burglary: Breaking and entering an inhabited structure with intent to commit a crime.
- Arson: Act of willfully and deliberately setting fire to property.
- Vandalism: Deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property.
- Shoplifting: Theft of goods from retail.
How to report a property crime
If you are in immediate danger, or there is an active burglary or arson call 9-1-1 Immediately.
If you are the victim of a property crime but there is no suspect present:
- Call the Non-Emergency number: 604-599-0502
- Visit Us: Find the nearest SPS police office.

What to do if you car is stolen
- Call 9-1-1 if the theft is in progress or you are in danger. Otherwise, you can call non-emergency at 604-599-0502
- Provide the make, model, year, color, license plate, and location of your car. It also helps if you mention if you have a GPS tracking system in your car.
- File a police report and get a copy of it.
- Contact ICBC and provide them with the police report and the details of your car.
