How to report a crime

If you need an immediate response from police, fire, or ambulance, please call 9-1-1. 

When to call 9-1-1:

  • A serious crime has taken place like a sexual assault or a robbery with suspects present.
  • There is an immediate threat to someone’s safety or life.
  • An in-progress crime is taking place like a fight or a break-in, or a report of an impaired driver

If you are unsure about whether or not your call is an emergency, please call 9-1-1.


If a crime has been committed where there is no threat of violence or loss of life, and no suspects are present, please calNon-Emergency at 604-599-0502.

Examples of when to call the non-emergency number:

  • A noise complaint
  • Vandalism of property
  • Suspicious activity or mischief/nuisance
     

When you call police, you may get asked:

  • What happened?
  • When did this happen?
  • Where did this happen?
  • Who is involved?
  • Are any drugs, alcohol, or weapons involved?
