Surrey Police Service is advising the public of a single vehicle collision on Highway 17 under the Port Mann Bridge that has sent two people to hospital and has resulted in Highway 17 being closed temporarily while police investigate the collision.

On January 11, 2025, at approximately 1:40 am police received calls that a vehicle with three occupants had been travelling on Highway 17 underneath the Port Mann Bridge, struck a pole, and was on fire.

RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit officers responded and found that the three occupants, two adults and one child, had been pulled from the car by a good Samaritan. The two adults were transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, and the child was examined by BC EHS and is with family.

Both the Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) have been called in to assist. The investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision.

Highway 17 underneath the Port Mann Bridge is currently closed to traffic as police investigate. Road closures and traffic diversions may last several more hours as officers conduct their investigation.

If you witnessed the collision or have any information, including dashcam footage, please call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2025-1897 (SU).
