Police Investigate Weapons-Related Incident in Guildford Area

RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) officers are investigating a weapons-related incident in the Guildford area of Surrey that has resulted in several youth being taken into custody and a number of weapons being seized.
Shortly before 3 pm on March 18, 2025, police received a call from a man who said he was being chased and shot at by several youths who were armed with firearms and weapons in the area of 149 Street and 104 Avenue, Surrey.
SPOSU members attended the scene and located numerous youths who appeared to be involved. Several of the youth fled the police and ran into and around Guildford Town Centre. Police resources attended the area, including the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service (LMD PDS), Lower Mainland Urban Patrol Helicopter Air 1, and Surrey Police Service officers.
Numerous youths were taken into custody by police at various locations in and around the mall. Several youth are currently being held in custody and some have been released pending further investigation. At this early stage, at least one Airsoft gun and a can of bear spray has been recovered at the scene and officers are continuing their search for additional weapons that may have been discarded by the youth during the incident. There were no injuries reported to police as a result of the incident.
