File: 2026-12536 (SP)

Criminal Code charges have been approved following a Surrey Police Service (SPS) investigation into an alleged assault in the Cedar Hills neighbourhood.

On February 6, 2026, at approximately 6:00 pm, a female youth was allegedly assaulted in the area of 99 Avenue and 123 Street, Surrey. SPS Special Investigation Section (SIS) subsequently assumed conduct of the investigation. A news release was published seeking to identify a suspect and as a result, a male adult was arrested (see previous news release here: Police Request Public Assistance Identifying Assault Suspect | Surrey Police).

On February 13, 2026, charges were approved by the BC Prosecution Service against one man.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with the following offences:

  • One count of forcible confinement, contrary to section 279(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada

He has been released with conditions pending his next court appearance on March 20, 2026.

Investigators would like to preclude the possibility that the accused may have committed further similar offences in the Whalley and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Anyone with information about this incident, or other incidents is asked to contact SPS’ non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca and quote file number 26-12536 (SP).
