Police investigate traffic fatality
Surrey Police Service is advising the public of a collision between two vehicles at the intersection of Highway 15 (176th Street) and Highway 10 (56th Avenue) in Surrey that has resulted in the death of a passenger in one of the vehicles.
On December 25, 2024, at approximately 11:15 am a vehicle struck a second vehicle at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 10. A passenger in the vehicle that was struck, an adult woman, passed away despite life-saving measures at the scene.
BC RCMP Surrey Police Operations Support Unit officers responded and both the Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) have both been called in to assist. The investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision. The driver of the vehicle that struck the other vehicle remained at the scene of the collision and is cooperating with police.
There are currently several road closures near the intersection of Highways 15 and 10, with Highway 10 being completely blocked for eastbound traffic. Road closures and traffic diversions are expected to last several hours as CCIT officers conduct their investigation.
