RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) is investigating an explosion at a home in the Green Timbers neighbourhood of Surrey.

On February 9, 2026, at approximately 9:15 pm, Surrey Police Service (SPS) and RCMP SPOSU members responded to the 14000 block of 100A Avenue regarding an explosion and subsequent house fire. SPS officers located a male at the scene, who was subsequently transported to an area hospital by BCEHS with non-life-threatening injuries. Surrey Fire Services attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

RCMP SPOSU General Investigation Unit (GIU) attended the scene and have assumed conduct of the investigation. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, however it does not appear to be related to the ongoing series of extortions in Surrey.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-5557 (SU).
