SPS Investigates Serious Collision

Surrey Police Service Traffic Enforcement Unit, with support from the Lower Mainland District Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), is investigating a serious late afternoon collision that has resulted in one man being critically injured in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood.
At approximately 5:50 pm on April 28, 2025, RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) officers came across a two-vehicle collision in the 14600 block of 72 Avenue while on patrol. Surrey Police Service Frontline officers, Surrey Fire Service firefighters, and BCEHS paramedics attended the scene. The driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his early 70’s, was transported by BCEHS to hospital in critical condition and has potentially life-threatening injuries. The passenger in the vehicle that had the injured driver was treated for minor injuries. Neither of the two occupants of the second vehicle were injured.
SPS Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the collision, and the cause remains under investigation.
