SPS News Release

File #25-806 (SU)

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, at approximately 8:45 am, RCMP Surrey Provincial Operational Support Unit and Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers were advised by Canada Border Services Agency staff that a white pickup truck with Washington State plates had driven north through the Pacific Highway Border Crossing without stopping.  Officers attempted to locate the vehicle in the area.  A few minutes later the vehicle was observed travelling northbound on King George Boulevard driving erratically and near 64th Avenue driving into oncoming traffic.  SPS officers then successfully stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was the lone occupant of the pickup truck.  Although vehicles were damaged, there were no injuries to the officers, the suspect or other drivers on the road.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
