Empowering Youth to Rise Beyond.

The Surrey Police Service Youth Services Team, in partnership with the Surrey School District, the Surrey Women’s Centre, and Pacific Community Resources Society, proudly presents S.O.A.R., a dynamic youth empowerment presentation designed for students in grades 6–10.

S.O.A.R. isn’t your typical classroom presentation. Using real-life stories, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities, our officers engage youth directly, helping them understand challenges, recognize risks, and develop the skills to make safe, positive choices.

Since July 2025, S.O.A.R. has reached over 2,600 youth, reflecting its effectiveness in delivering critical safety and empowerment messages.

What Students Learn

S.O.A.R. covers real issues youth face today, including:

  • Online safety and digital awareness
  • Sexual exploitation and human trafficking
  • Grooming, gangs, and substance use
  • Mental wellness
  • Healthy relationships and peer support

Through interactive discussions and real-life examples, students are encouraged to ask questions, share experiences, and explore strategies to stay safe, support friends, and make informed decisions.

Why S.O.A.R. Works

  • Interactive & engaging: Officers don’t just speak at students—they get them involved.
  • Youth support on hand: Trained community-based youth workers are onsite during every session to provide immediate guidance and support for students who need it.
  • Proactive & prevention-focused: Equips youth before problems escalate.
  • Evidence-informed: Topics are based on trends identified by Surrey schools, Surrey Police Service, and community partners.
  • Empowering: Builds resilience, autonomy, and confidence in decision-making.

The program reflects SPS’s commitment to youth safety, early intervention, and building strong community connections.
